Arjun Bhati turns in 12 under at National Men’s Amateur Championship
Long-time Jaypee IGPN Academy trainee Arjun Bhati finished fourth at the Indian Golf Union’s Jharkhand Amateur Championship that was played at the Golmuri Golf Club in Jamshedpur earlier this month.
The 17-yer-old Arjun, who has been training with Academy Chief Coach Monish Bindra since 2015 , had rounds of 70, 70, 67 and 69 at the Golmuri course for a 12-under par total of 276.
Incidentally the Golmuri course in Jamshedpur plays host to the country's top professional golfers when the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) visits Jamshedpur for its season-ending Tour Championship in the Steel City.
Arjun has been the top-ranked junior in the IGU standings in Categories A, B, C and D in the past and according to Chief Coach Monish Bindra, he is now focussing on the senior level, the Amateur tour to further his golf ambitions.
Said Chief Coach Bindra, “The Jaypee IGPN Academy Golf Instructions and Fitness programme is paying dividends for a lot of budding juniors, amateur and professional golfers and we have been producing a number of good golfers over the years now"
Keeping up with his form, in the previous week Arjun finished a creditable second with rounds of 73, 74 and 70 at the Andhra Pradesh IGU Amateur Championship. His personal aim for the year is to finish in the top 5 of the amateur order of merit.
